Letter to the Editor:
Does anyone know please…, was the movie, “Deliverance,” filmed in Auburn Township? Specifically I refer my question to the Auburn Township Board of Zoning Appeals.
Incredibly, Auburn Township Board of Zoning Appeals is fighting the installation of a small 10kw windmill on a private farm, but approved the installation of two gigantic windmills producing 100 kw each at “The Pond,” an ice-skating rink in same township.
More than 60 people came to protest the installation of the “farm” windmill, and yet, not one of them showed up to protest the gigantic twin windmills.
In addition, the Auburn Township Board of Zoning Appeals terrorized a family over the installation of a gazebo to serve as a bus station for their developmentally-delayed child.
The family who wanted to build this structure had to spend thousands in legal fees in order to make this improvement to their property. A member of the Auburn Township Board of Zoning Appeals actually told this family, "You should never have moved to Auburn Township…” Other families thinking of moving to Auburn Township should be aware of such risks before setting up residence.
Sadly, a cursory review of the Chardon Municipal Court records tells us that some members of the Auburn Township Board of Zoning Appeals have outstanding liens, civil litigation, repeat traffic offenses, flagrant disregard of the seat belt law, and significant debt to a long-time area orthodontist. How did these people get elected?
In any case, if Director John Boorman ever considers producing “Deliverance II,” the members of the Auburn Township Board of Zoning Appeals are already in character for the sequel.

Thanks for the info Judy.
Unfortunately, this kind of ignorant, small minded thinking prevails in most of your township boards of trustees, zoning boards, planning boards, commissioner boards, etc.
I have been to various township trustee meetings and was amazed at what I noticed. At each different one, it was the same ignorant, small minded thinking and attitudes.... just different faces.
It was as if all of these jerks took the exact same course (board member 101) on how to do their job.
I couldn't believe it! Going to one of these meetings was like going to all the others.
The type of self appointed "do gooders" on these boards think they know what's best for you and the community. They have never had power of any degree before, and it goes to their heads to be able to control other people.... they abuse it. Maybe it's for lack of control in their own households, who knows.
Alot of these people bring heavy baggage to the meetings with them that should be left at home.
For example: One might be an alcoholic or drug abuser whose mean side might surface at these meetings from becomming irritated.... one might have been a bully all of their life and take pleasure in denying someones legitimate request, or verbally talking down to them.... one might have personality conflicts with people comming in front of them.... one might have uncontrolled jealousies of others appearing before them who are doing better than they are.... one might be a wimp or may have been picked on most of their life and use their authority to take it out on others.... one might have a friend or political crony who wants the same thing you do, but will deny you and not the friend.
Those are just a few things, and NONE of these examples are far fetched. This is real life and these conditions exist on all of the boards.
Personally, I don't think a person should sit on ANY board, wielding power over others, bringing this kind of baggage with them.
LEAVE THE BULLSHIT BEHIND!!
Why do you people have so much trouble sticking to your oath of office to protect peoples rights?! Instead, all you do is abuse their rights. Do you even know what the "Bill Of Rights" or the "Constitution" says? Stop trying to impose your own will, the way YOU want things, and start following the Constitution and apply it equally to all. IS THIS TOO DAM MUCH TO ASK?!
And don't forget, the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) and Township regulations, are NOT the Constitution! Both are filled with regulations that are unconstitutional. The ORC is the only reference all of you, including the prosecutor, rely on.... you ignore the Constitution. STOP ABUSING PEOPLES PROPERTY RIGHTS!
The peons on all of these local boards are more the problem in America than the federal government. They are far more responsible for the loss of your rights, yet many of you don't see it because you are looking way past it for the reasons. START LOOKING IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY.
Auburn Township Trustees and Board of Zoning Appeals.... why are you causing Tom and Diane Jones such misery and money by fighting the installation of a small 10kw windmill on their farm, but approved the installation of two gigantic windmills producing 100 kw each at “The Pond,” an ice-skating rink in same township.
I smell a rat here. Are any of you getting paid off? Are any of you friends with the owners of "The Pond" or have any financial interest in it yourself?
Also, NO ONE, should have to get a permit or ask your stinkin permission to put up a lousy gazebo in their yard.
