Between Monday July 11, 2011 and Wednesday, July 13, 2011, a professional polling company contacted 500 Republican voters in Geauga and asked them a series of questions pertaining to Senator Tim Grendell and other Geauga County Republican officials. Highlights from the survey are as follows:
Senator Tim Grendell has almost universal name recognition among Geauga Republican voters, and despite being involved in many controversies in recent years he remains highly popular.
Currently, 63% of Geauga Republicans view Tim favorably while l8% view him unfavorably.
13% have heard of Tim Grendell but have no opinion about him, and 6% have never heard of him.
This is in stark contrast to recent statements made by Republican Chairman Ed Ryder and Vice-Chairman Blake Rear that Grendell has no base left in Geauga County and he is unelectable.
While with the exception of Recorder Sharon Gingerich it is true that Grendell has no base of support among the Ryder/Rear supporters in the Geauga Republican Women’s Club, or county office holders, or supporters of former Judge Colleen O’Toole, or Burton 9/12 and Tea Party groups who will support Skip Claypool’s likely challenge to Ryder’s Chairmanship in 2012, Tim Grendell is still a popular and universally known figure in Republican politics in Geauga County with the highest positive name recognition of any candidate/officeholder tested.
Not surprisingly, Judge Diane Grendell's name recognition statistics are similar to Tim's. Diane is viewed favorably by 59% of Geauga Republicans, 16% view her unfavorably, 18% have beard of her but have no opinion about her, and 7% have never heard of her.
In stark contrast Ryder fares far worse, in fact among those who know him, his unfavorables exceed his favorables. Ryder is viewed favorably by 11% of Geauga Republicans and unfavorably by 12%. 36% of Geauga republicans have heard of him but have no opinion about him, and 41% have never heard of him.
With the exception of county officeholders and those in the Women’s Club who have not turned against him over his under the table support of Judge Gene Lucci in the Court Of Appeals primary against Judge O’Toole and his very open support of Dennis Coyne in the recent Municipal Court primary, Ryder is unknown to most Geauga Republicans and not well liked by those who do know him.
HEAD T0 HEAD
In a mythical primary match up for Juvenile and Probate Judge against Ryder, Tim Grendell would begin with a lead of 56% over l7%.
8% said they would not vote for Grendell or Ryder, and 19% were undecided.
With the exception of the late Judge Henry, no Geauga Republican has ever come within 20 points of Tim or Diane Grendell in a head to head match up during the decade in which these polls have been conducted. That still remains the case.
In a mythical match up between County Auditor Frank Gliha, Ryder’s biggest cheerleader among county officials, and State Representative Dick Hollington, Gliha would begin with a 23% over7% lead, but would probably ultimately lose a primary to Dick if he decides to seek an elected term in the House due to Dick’s ability to vastly outspend him.
Without question in our minds, Tim Grendell is still strong enough to beat virtually any Republican, easily, in Geauga County, with the exception of Diane.
These poll results are no surprise to us. Tim Grendell has been a champion of the people for a very long time and most people know and appreciate that.
Tim is his own man and does not march to the beat of the drums of the idiots and clowns who run the Republican Party or the Republican Women's Club.
These people do not like Tim Grendell beause of that and the fact that they can not control or manipulate him and also because he does not have to depend on them for support. THEY ALL HATE IT!!
The Geauga Republican Women's Club has become insignificant in most elections. It is composed mostly of women who are well known in Geauga political circles for their lying and backstabbing. Unfortunately, these small minded people have control of the Central Committee and are largely responsible for ruining the once conservative Geauga Republican Party.
Statements by Republican Chairman Ed Ryder and Vice-Chairman Blake Rear that Grendell has no base left in Geauga County and he is unelectable is laughable and without factual basis. These two are legends in their own mind and making crap like this up as they go along. And "go along" they should....out of politics.
In my opinion, Blake Rear's last name is befitting of him. It is my understanding that he refused to give our Republican Governor the full list of names requested for review and consideration in the appointing of a Judge for Juvenile/Probate Court. He purposely left Tim Grendell's name off the list for manipulative purposes. Who the hell do you think you are Blake .
The poll states that Ed Ryder is largely unknown to Geauga people and not well liked by alot who know him. I am not happy with that.....I want Ryder to become widely known for the kind of person he is. He is on the "Most Unwanted List" on this site for some very good reasons. Click this link to see why: GEAUGA COUNTY MOST UNWANTED . Anyone in public office who would try to take away someones right to free speech in retaliation and use the power of their office to persecute them in that way does not deserve to hold ANY public office....and that is putting it mildly. Any enemy of the Constitution should be considered an enemy to you and freedom.
The Burton 9/12 and various Tea Party groups are really no threat to anyone. They are misguided, have done nothing, and are part of the problem instead of the cure. If they are Patriots, as they claim, they should be supporting Tim Grendell, who is not afraid to buck the system and has singlehandedly done more to protect Geauga than anyone. Instead they choose to support people who are less than mediocre that don't have the knowledge or savvy to come close to accomplishing what Grendell has. They also have alligned themselves with the Republican Women's Club....BIG MISTAKE! That club has no interest in the Constitution....they only support people they think they can control.
If we ever lose Tim Grendell, this county loses alot. I
don't know of anyone that could fill his shoes.
