I hope this isn’t taken personally by anyone. These are just the facts as I see them.
He is a likable guy but that is not a qualification for judge.
On his mailers he goes out of his way letting you know he is a Republican bringing you “Common Sense Justice”, yet in the 2008 primary he requested a Democrat ballot and voted for Hillary Clinton. Yikes! I believe he remained a Dem until the 2010 May primary.
Frankly, I’m tired of this kind of deceit and political maneuvering that so many pull on us in Geauga. We need people who have conviction about who they are, what they stand for, and not waiver from it, especially as a judge.
Matt has no experience but also has had many State tax liens against him from 1992 to 2005 all totaling to somewhere around $30,000. This reflects a chronic 13 year span of financial problems. Not a good thing to bring to the table for someone running for Judge. He brings too much baggage with him and seems to run for whatever position opens up, as though he is just looking for what ever job he can get in politics.
I don’t see a TRUE Republican here or common sense or good judgment.
Endorsing him is an old school buddy, Geauga prosecutor David Joyce. The last thing Geauga needs is more cronyism.
Coyne claims to be Republican but was a Democrat until the 1996 primary. He turned Republican some time after Joyce hired him as a part time Assistant County Prosecutor. Now, that was some time ago, but I don't really believe Coyne is a true Republican at heart. Being involved in Cleveland, having a law firm there, comming from a Democratic family....I believe Democratic roots are still alive in his heart. With the history of Geauga being conservative Republican dominant, is it coincidence Coyne switched to Republican after being hired by Joyce who is a Republican. Personally, I don't believe in coincidence.
Coyne had a fund raiser at St. Dennis Golf Course where it was reported to me by a person who attended, that alot of the attendees were Democrats from surrounding counties and some from Geauga. What’s up with all the Democrats? More political maneuvering and deceit.
Here is what I don't understand....If a person is a true Republican then why would he have even ONE Democrat at his fundraiser. Isn't the Republican core platform the antithisis to the Democratic one? Don't the bylaws of both Parties prohibit each from supporting or voting for the other? Is there no distinction anymore between the Parties? I think not.
One last thing....Geauga Republican Chairman Ed Ryder is also supporting Coyne but he is unable to get the Rep Party to endorse Coyne because of all the dissention there. Ryder and Prosecutor Joyce are both involved in an action against me, to deprive me of my First Amendment right of free speech....Click link to see story:
If Ryder and Joyce place such little value on our Constitution and are willing to abuse someones right to free speech out of vindictiveness, then I wouldn't trust anyone they support. Anyone who DOES support a candidate that people like this offer to us, must also not care about Constitutional rights.
He seems to be the only honest, true to the heart man here. He has always been a consistent Republican, never switching to manipulate votes as many others do.
A lifelong resident of Geauga, Bond has integrity and conviction about who he is and what he stands for. He IS what he says he is wether you like it or not.
As Magistrate and acting Judge in Chardon Muny Court since 2005, Dan Bond has the experience and background for the job. He is fair, even handed, and has the non partisanship a Judge should have. Dan Bond deserves to be Judge.
