Children need support
This past week I read a letter to the editor written by a woman who is not going to support local levies, apparently to punish local officials whom she feels have not done enough to bring Geauga’s share of tax dollars sent to Columbus back to Geauga County.
The reality is that many of these tax dollars she is referring to are distributed by formulas that local officials have no control over. She assumes Geauga officials have a disproportionate amount of political pull to influence the distribution of tax dollars coming from Columbus.
My personal belief is that we need to support local levies that fund services that we as a community decide are important to us.
One replacement levy on the ballot this November is the children’s services levy, Issue 8, that provides funding to protect and improve the lives of children that are abused and neglected. If you look at your tax bill, you will see that the children’s services levy makes up a tiny sliver of the local taxes you pay, yet it is critical to protecting the most vulnerable of our children.
As the county’s juvenile court judge, I see firsthand how integral this levy is to putting a safety net in place to protect vulnerable children.
Please join my wife and I in supporting Issue 8. The reality is, if we do not protect our children, we should not expect that others in Columbus or Washington will.
Judge Charles E. Henry and Linda E. Henry
Awwww....how touching Mr. Henry, but I am outraged about several things here. For one, you are misinforming the people and twisting the facts....something you are very good at.
I know the woman you are referring to. Her letter and efforts have nothing to do with punishing local officials as you claim, but rather to help educate the community with truth and protect vital services in this county. She listed many credible reasons for her stance on the levies. Maybe you need a new prescription for your glasses.
Nobody wants to hear about meaningless formulas. It is obvious you are not keeping up with what is happening around the world, in our country, how this is affecting Geauga County now, and how Geauga will be affected in the near future as things progressively get worse. People like you want to tell us that Geauga will be O.K. because of all the wealth here, but that is not the case.
Presently we have a $1,400,000 deficit in our county budget. Neighboring counties have had to make deep cuts resulting in drastic downsizing of vital services such as the Sheriffs' department.
I am sick and tired of hearing people like you, using the children as tools to loosen our wallets, or being threatened with cuts in services. It is people like you who heap guilt trips on others and threaten punishment to get more from us.
"The reality is" that we are in the worst economic crisis we have ever seen and we cannot continue to be a never ending well of money to a government that mismanages, irresponsibly spends, and steals. No one should take it personally, it is not that we do not care about the children, the libraries, the handicapped, etc. People have only so much to give and that has been dwindling rapidly in this crisis.
"My personal belief is" that we need to find someone to replace you Mr. Henry. You are the man behind the scenes of the out of control, wealthy, Geauga Park District that takes a large portion of tax money out of Geauga and responsible for removing many hundreds of acres of land off the tax rolls, hurting our local economy more, continues to buy up more land, and you come out telling us we should give more? You have some nerve!
"that provides funding to protect and improve the lives of children that are abused"......"yet it is critical to protecting the most vulnerable of our children"
"The reality is", what our vulnerable children really need is protection from YOU Mr. Henry, in the juvenile courtroom. You know... the one you think is YOUR courtroom, where childrens 4th Amendment rights are abused and violated ....my son being one of your victims.
I have spoken to dozens upon dozens of parents since then who have related horror stories to me about their childrens experience there.
"The reality is, if we do not protect our children, we should not expect that others in Columbus or Washington will". Since when in history have we ever needed (Socialist) Children's Services, Columbus, or Washington to protect our children for us?! Biblicly speaking, that is the parents responsibility, and we don't need any socialist agency or politician doing it for us! Children's Services has a general reputation across the country of taking children away from parents uneccessarily as there is monetary gain in it for them. That agency is also used to take children unlawfully from parents who have different political views than the government....namely parents who homeschool, believe in the Constitution, belong to patriotic groups, are vocal about it, etc. A recent example are the parents who support Oath Keepers, having their baby taken by Children Services. Here is the link if you want to read about it: OATHKEEPER FAMILY....BABY TAKEN BY POLICE AND FAMILY SERVICES .
We won't even talk about child abuse at the hands of socialist Children's Services themselves and foster care. This has been a very big problem.
If a child is being abused, and I mean really abused, not some socialist definition of the word, then a neighbor should call the Sheriff. That's who should handle it....not some socialist agency! That is how it has always been handled....and don't tell me the incidences of child abuse have drasticly declined since these agencies were created because that's a bunch of crap!
We don't need to hear from bigots and hippocrates about tax levies.
