Most See Government as Threat to Rights
To put the poll in perspective, there are a few things we should note. Since CNN is a liberal news organization, there is every reason to believe that 56 percent may be a low-end number on American suspicion of Uncle Sam. http://thenewamerican.com/index.php/usnews/politics/3033-most-see-government-as-threat-to-rights
An Open Letter to Politicians and Cops
A similar situation appears in the realm of law enforcement in the United States, because police officers and their political bosses seem to be oblivious to the fact that the American economic and political landscape has profoundly changed over the last three years. They continue to humiliate, bully, assault, taser, jail, and shoot Americans (and their dogs) as though the American populace will forever tolerate such abuses. Police officers strut around cities and towns barking orders at people as though nothing in the world could ever take away their ability to intimidate and demean. Similarly, politicians and police chiefs continue to defend their officers’ actions, no matter how barbarically or blatantly they may have misbehaved. In so doing, these police officers and politicians are demonstrating their inability or refusal to recognize how much America has changed. http://www.lewrockwell.com/crovelli/crovelli47.1.html
Land of the Free Watch: 86-Year-Old Bedridden Woman Tasered
Lonnie Tinsley of El Reno, Oklahoma made a nearly fatal mistake last December 22 when he went to check on his grandma, Lona Vernon. Concerned that Lona hadn’t taken her medications, Lonnie called 911 in the expectation that an emergency medical technician would be dispatched to the apartment to evaluate the bedridden 86-year-old woman. Instead, that call for help was answered by nearly a dozen armed tax-feeders employed by the El Reno Police Department. Understandably alarmed — and probably more than a little disgusted — by the presence of uninvited armed strangers in her home, Lona ordered them to leave. This directive, issued by a fragile female octogenarian confined to a hospital-style bed and tethered to an oxygen tank, was interpreted as “aggressive” behavior by Officer Thomas Duran, who ordered one of his associates : “Taser her!” http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/60261.html
How To Survive Traffic Stops in the New America: Submit, Instantly
From watching the video, McCloskey’s big mistake was to assume that in America, one isn’t at risk of being shot to death on the street over a speeding ticket. Such a thing doesn’t even enter the mind of the average person as a possibility. So, why not reach into one’s pocket (or glovebox) for the paperwork? That’s what the cop wants, right? Not in today’s America. What the cops want is immediate passivity and obedience. Many cops are ex-military and view the civilian motorists of America about like they viewed the hapless peasants of Iraq and Afghanistan—that is, with contempt. Not as fellow citizens deserving of civility and respect until they do something to prove they deserve otherwise. http://vdare.com/misc/100519_peters.htm
Hutaree Militia Update
With much media fanfare, 9 members of a Michigan militia were arrested last March and charged with “seditious conspiracy”–specifically, plotting to murder law enforcement officers. Ostensibly, this was supposed to precipitate some kind of wholesale revolt against the government. Question: Have any of you heard anyone from the propaganda press corps (national news media) tell you what has been happening with this case? No? Did you not wonder why? Well, I’ll tell you why: the case has fallen apart. http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin589.htm
