Judge Eugene A. Lucci
(For Immediate Release) April 14, 2010
Painesville, OH - The campaign of Lake County Common Pleas Judge Gene Lucci, who is a candidate for the Eleventh District Court of Appeals, was endorsed as “Highly Recommended” by the Lake County Bar Association. Lucci was the highest rated of the four candidates for the Eleventh District Court of Appeals, receiving an affirmative vote on 94.8% of the votes cast. Colleen O’Toole, Judge Lucci’s opponent in the May 4th Republican Primary, was given a rating of “Not Recommended,” garnering support from only 37% of the attorneys.
“The Lake County Bar Association is made up of lawyers who know both candidates for the Court of Appeals the best. They regularly practice in front of Judge Lucci and Colleen O’Toole and have given their vote of confidence to Judge Lucci and rebuked a sitting Judge, Colleen O’Toole. I think that speaks volumes,” Lucci campaign spokesman Chris Galloway said. “When given the choice, those who know them best, chose Judge Lucci by a country mile,” he added.
“I am honored and humbled by the tremendous support I am receiving from attorneys and citizens throughout the five county district. The Court of Appeals needs a judge with experience as a trial judge and experience in law enforcement. I will bring my decades of experience to this critical bench,” Judge Lucci said, thanking the members of the Lake County Bar Association for their vote of confidence.
Judge Lucci is the conservative candidate for the 11th District Court of Appeals. Judge Lucci has stood for the Constitution and the rule of law from his 12 years as a police officer, through his 20 years as a lawyer and now in his 10th year as a Judge. “I have made it my life’s calling to protect, defend and obey the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Ohio. As a police officer, I came within inches of giving my life defending our community. As a judge, I honor the Constitution by protecting the rights of every citizen, victim and defendant that comes before me. As an appeals court judge, I will continue that important work.”
Judge Lucci has gained a great deal of support in his run for the Court of Appeals. He has been endorsed by the Lake County Republican Party, the Buckeye Firearms Association, Geauga County Prosecuting Attorney David Joyce, the Mentor Police Patrolmen’s Association, as well as gaining the support of the Fraternal Order of Police Western Lake County Lodge #116. Lake County Sheriff Dan Dunlap says that Lucci’s integrity, competence, experience as a trial judge and police officer, and impartial demeanor would be a welcome addition to the Court of Appeals.
Republican voters of Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Portage, and Trumbull counties will nominate a candidate for the Eleventh District Court of Appeals on Tuesday, May 4th. Judge Lucci resides in Concord Township.
