Mary Brigid (Bridey) Matheney
Geauga County Assit. Prosecutor Cited In Bainbridge
D.U.I. and LEFT OF CENTER
On November 21, 2016 (Monday), Geauga Assistant Prosecutor, Bridey Matheney was issued two traffic citations in Bainbridge Twp. for DUI, a first degree misdemeanor, and going left of center. Sources say she refused a breathalyzer test. Court docket indicates she already has 6 existing points on her license. This occured by State Route 306 and East Washington Street.
Bridey was arraigned in Chardon Muni Court before Judge Terri Stupica. She has already had 1 continuence, was scheduled to appear in Chardon Muni Court on Monday January 9, 2017 at 1:30 PM, but filed another continuance. Case number is 2016TRC6683.
There are a few areas of concern here:
- Will she be treated like anyone else cited for DUI, left of center and refusing the breathalyzer, or will her buddies in politics get the charges lowered or have her completely exonerated? Bridey is part of the Geauga political establishment status quo and babysat for Congressman David Joyce's kids. I wonder what is going on behind the scenes and the stalling with these continuances to buy more time. It doesn't smell good! Her buddies in politics should be embarrassed by her stupidity, disreguard for public safety, and distance themselves from her.
- It was reported that Bridey was on her way home from a Geauga Bar Association party that night. How embarrassing that would be for the Bar Association! Didn't anyone notice she had too much to drink? It had to be obvious before she left the party and after she left she couldn't even stay on her own side of the road. Why didn't anyone offer a ride home or call Uber? Bridey knew she had consumed too much so why didn't SHE ask for a ride or call Uber? That would have been the responsible thing to do. People in her capacity as assistant prosecutor are charged with protecting the public from harm yet it was Bridey who was putting people in harms way that night! THANK GOD NO ONE WAS HURT! I'm not against having a drink or glass of wine with you dinner but this had obviously gone way way past that. I am quite sure she was not the only one who had way too much to drink that night but she was the only one caught.
- Reports from some people there, indicate there was alot of drinking going on that night. That's fine, I'm glad they had a good time, but there has to be responsibility to go along with that! Most of these people are lawyers, prosecutors, judges, who deal with DUI cases frequently or at least are very familiar with DUI and the ramifications involved. You would think they would be more sensitive, aware, more caucious of the responsibility that goes along with drinking in excess. As a prosecutor you would think Bridey would be.
- Do our public servants think they are above the law? Do they think there are two sets of rules, one for us and another for them? Do they think they can do just about anything they want with immunity? The sad answer is in most cases....YES! There are rare exceptions to this. Why isn't the public holding these people responsible? What if this had turned out worse and assistant prosecutor Mary Brigid (Bridey) Matheney had seriously injured or killed someone like your mother, father, son, daughter, husband or wife because she was negligently and criminally out of ontrol of the vehicle she was driving? I'll bet you wouldn't be sitting on your ass doing nothing THEN!
Our recent Presidential election has shown us that the people in this country are fed up with the old guard status quo politicians who operate under different rules than the rest of us and we should not tolerate public servants in Geauga County whose cavalier, careless behavior that can put any one of us in harms way. Bridey obviously has a problem!
If these people want these cushy public jobs whose salaries are paid for with our tax money then they should be good examples and held to a higher standard!
Hypocrite Bridey Matheney should resign
or be fired!
Although I don't think that will happen, as all the rats in the nest protect each other. More changes need to be made in Geauga County!
